Minimum General Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to any of our Postgraduate Programs, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Possess at least five credits, including English Language, and four relevant subjects, achieved in one or two sittings, from recognized examination bodies such as WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or TC11 (for the Faculty of Education only). These qualifications should align with the specific Department/Faculty and the General University Requirements.

a) Postgraduate Diploma Programs

Admission into the Postgraduate Diploma Programs is open to:

  • Graduates from accredited universities who hold a first-degree classification with a FCGPA of 1.51 or higher on a 5-point scale.
  • Candidates from recognized Polytechnics or Monotechnics with a Higher National Diploma (HND) and a minimum of Lower Credit.

b) Master’s Degree Programs

Candidates seeking admission into Master’s Programs must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold an appropriate degree in the proposed field of study from accredited universities with a minimum FCGPA of 2.50 on a 5-point scale or a minimum of 45% for universities that do not use FCGPA.
  • Holders of a Postgraduate Diploma from recognized institutions with an FCGPA of 3.00 and above on a 5-point scale.

c) MPhil/PhD Programs

For admission to MPhil/PhD Programs, candidates should fulfill the following:

  • Hold a Master’s Degree in the proposed field of study from recognized universities, with an FCGPA ranging from 3.20 to 3.49 on a 5-point scale, as specified under the advertised Courses.

d) Doctor of Philosophy Programs

Admission to the Doctor of Philosophy Programs requires:

  • A Master’s Degree in the proposed field of study from recognized universities with a minimum FCGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale, or a minimum of 60% for universities that do not use the FCGPA.

Program Duration

  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGD):
    • Part-Time: A minimum of 4 Semesters, Maximum of 6 Semesters
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering (PGD ENGINEERING):
    • Part-Time: A minimum of 6 Semesters, Maximum of 8 Semesters
  • Master’s:
    • Part-Time: A minimum of 4 Semesters, Maximum of 8 Semesters
  • MPhil/PhD Programs:
    • Part-Time: A minimum of three (3) Semesters, Maximum of four (4) Semesters
  • Ph.D.:
    • Part-Time: A minimum of 8 Semesters, Maximum of 14 Semesters

How to Apply for UNIZIK PG Part-Time Admission

Follow these steps to apply:

Step 1: Click on “Postgraduate School” and select “Generate Application Form Invoice.”

Step 2: Fill out the Invoice generation form and click on “Generate invoice.”

Step 3: After generating the invoice, make the payment at the bank or click on “Pay with Card” to purchase the form using a Debit card.

Step 4: Obtain your RRR and revisit the Portal at [portal link] to complete the Application form.

Step 5: Download and print your Acknowledgment Form and Transcript Request form to be sent to your former institution for your academic transcripts. If there is any change of name, please indicate it in the transcript form.

Applicants should include the names, phone numbers, and email addresses of three Referees, with at least two of them being Academics at or above the rank of Senior Lecturer.

Application Process for the [Year] Academic Session

  1. The sale of Forms begins on 11th September, [Year].
  2. Submission of Forms for the (Online programs) ends on November 30, [Year] for all Part-Time programs.
  3. Transcripts, either hard or soft copy, should be forwarded to the Secretary, College of Postgraduate Studies no later than December 8, [Year] for all Part-Time programs.
  4. Soft copies of transcripts may be forwarded to secdr_transcript.cpgs@unizik.edu.ng from institutional email addresses only.
  5. Applicants will be invited for Screening Test and Proposal Defense (PhD only) from December 12-15, [Year].
  6. PhD applicants, when submitting their forms, must upload a proposal of not more than five type-written pages containing:
    • Name of Applicant
    • Proposed Department and Faculty
    • Topic (not more than 18 words)
