How To Calculate OOU Aggregate Cut Off Mark For 2024/2025 Session

How to calculate OOU aggregate cut off mark for 2024/2025 academic session is one of the many questions on the lips of candidates who wish to get admitted into the prestigious university. Olabisi Onabanja University (OOU) is a state-owned university located in Ogun State in South-Western Nigeria. It is a known fact that South-Western universities are one of the most competitive universities regardless of if they are Federal or State-owned.

Although OOU is a state-owned university, its admission process is quite similar to that of Federal Universities in which candidates are required to take a JAMB exam and later seat for a compulsory Post UME exam. These two exams will later determine if you meet the departmental cut off mark and if you should be considered for admission.

What is Aggregate Cut Off Mark?

The aggregate cut off mark is different from the departmental cut off mark in the sense that, the aggregate represents the score you were able to get after combining your JAMB and Post UME.

To get considered for admission your aggregate cut off mark will have to reach or surpass the departmental cut off mark. However, it is better to surpass the departmental cut off mark to increase your chances of getting picked over other candidates.

How to Calculate OOU Aggregate Cut Off Mark

As stated above, the aggregate cut off mark simply involves the summation of both the JAMB and Post UME scores. However, there are several calculations you would have to make on your JAMB and Post UME scores before summing them up.

OOU uses this formula to further reduce the number of students to ensure they only pick the best candidates from the tens of thousands of applications they receive every year. If you wish to fall into the category of the best candidates, then you would need to score very high in both your JAMB and Post UME exams.

The JAMB UTME exams consist of several questions with a total of 400 marks awarded. You should know your JAMB score to enable you to calculate your aggregate cut off mark. You should also know your POST UME score. OOU only awards 100 marks in its post UME. Once you have gotten both exam scores handy, you can follow the process below;

To calculate your aggregate cut off mark,

Simply divide your JAMB score by 8.

Then divide your OOU Post UME score by 2

Add up the resulting figures

Illustration

JAMB/8 = 50%

Post UME/2 = 50%

Total = 100%

Example

If a candidate Mr. Olabisi scores 260 in his JAMB exam and 70 in his Post UME exam. We can calculate his aggregate cut off mark by simply;

JAMB = 260/8 = 32.5

Post UME = 70/2 = 35

Total = 32.5 + 35 = 67.5

Mr. Olabisi’s total aggregate cut off mark is 67.5%.

As you can see above the Post UME is the major player when it comes to determining your aggregate cut off mark. If you were unable to do well in your JAMB you would easily end up surpassing others if you are able to perform very well in your Post UME.

OOU Departmental Cut Off Mark

The main reason why candidates should know how to calculate the OOU aggregate cut off mark is to check if they are able to meet up with the departmental cut off mark set by the university. Every year, most universities in Nigeria release a set of scores which an aspiring candidate must meet to before being considered for admission.

OOU is one of such universities and they wouldn’t consider any candidate who fails to meet up with its criteria. However, like most universities in Nigeria, OOU tends to favour indigenes of the state more than non-indigenes. Thus, indigenes would be considered for admission even if they are not able to meet up with the departmental cut off mark. Non-indigenes, on the other hand, would have to earn their admission by merit.
