University of Nigeria postgraduate admission form application process this academic session is the same step used by applicants during the previous session, the only major difference is the closing date of the application form. Going by the above information, it is important to point that the schools that are affiliated to UNNPG school are to follow the application steps outlined below but first let’s go through the requirements for applying for the form online.
Requirements for Applying for UNN Postgraduate Admission Form
For Postgraduate Admission, candidates must possess basic “O” Level requirements (credit in five relevant subjects, including English and Mathematics) in addition to the following:
PH.D ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates must have obtained a masters degree from M.A, M.Ed., M. Sc., M.Eng. or LL.M Degrees in the relevant areas with CGPA of at least 4.00 on a scale of 0.00 to 5.00 from UNN or any other recognized University or 60% (B. Average)
- All Ph.D programmes are done by course work.
MASTERS DEGREE REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates for admission into M.A., M.Ed., M. Sc. (Ed), MLS, M.Sc., M.Eng. and L.L.M. programmes shall have:
- First Class, Second Class Upper or Second Class Lower Degree from University of Nigeriaor any other recognized University.
- A Third Class Degree plus a good Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant areas from University of Nigeria or any other recognized University.
- Candidate for admission into MBA, MHPM, MPA, MPBD, MHRS and MASS should have:
- A good Second Class Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Management, Sociology and Anthropology, History, Economics from University of Nigeria or any other recognized University.
- A Third Class Degree or HND with a minimum of Lower Credit plus a Postgraduate Diploma with a minimum of merit in the relevant areas from University of Nigeria or any other recognized University.
POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates for admission into PGDM, PGDE, PGDNSS and PGDA must have obtained a degree in relevant discipline from University of Nigeriaor any other recognized University or HND with a minimum classification of Lower Credit obtained from recognized institutions.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Photocopies of NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificates, photocopies of all qualifying credentials, including O’level must be attached to the completed application forms. Candidates should arrange for their transcripts to be sent directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies. Non-receipt of transcripts in time is at the detriment of the applicant.
DURATION OF STUDIES
Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
- Full-Time Diploma: Minimum of one academic session and a maximum of two.
Masters Degree Programmes
- Full-Time: A minimum of two academic sessions and a maximum of three.
Ph.D Programme
- Full-Time: A minimum of three academic sessions and a maximum of five.
How To Apply for UNN Postgraduate Admission Form
UNN PG application Forms can be obtained ONLINE on payment of a non-refundable fee of twenty six thousand, seven hundred naira only (N26,700.00) payable to “The University of Nigeria Postgraduate Application Fees Account, at any bank within the country using the Remita platform.
To apply for UNN postgraduate form for 2025/2026 academic session, please follow the outlined steps below:
Step 1 – Login to the UNN Portal- unnportal.unn.edu.ng
Step 2 – Go to postgraduate students
Step 3 – Select PG form for (2024/2025)
Step 4 – Enter your telephone number.
Step 5 – Fill in your basic details.
Step 6 – Generate Invoice with RRR.
Step 7 – Make payments using the online channel or at the bank.
Step 8 – Go back to online form.
Step 9 – Fill the PG online application form and upload all necessary credentials in PDF.
Step 10 – Complete referee form. (Enter correct Emails).
Step 11 – Cross check all information provided
Step 12 – Click on the Submit Button to submit the form.
Please note that with the exception of the transcript, you are not expected to submit hard copies of application materials to the school of Postgraduate Studies.
REFEREE REPORTS
Candidates should download three (3) copies of the referee report (D1) forms after completing preliminary and personal details online. Some details on the form would be inserted automatically with the information provided by the candidate online while the remaining information should be completed by the referee manually and returned to the candidate who will enclose it in sealed envelope for submission. Please note that applications would not be processed unless the referees’ reports are available.
TRANSCRIPTS
Candidates should download transcript request forms (D2) also provided online, and submit to their former Universities/Institutions to forward their academic transcript(s) to “The Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka” to reach him/her not later than two weeks of this publication. Candidates whose transcripts are not received on or before the deadline by the School shall not have their application forms processed.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All information required would be completed online except the transcript. Copies of qualifying certificates/statement of result and NYSC discharge certificate (Exemption or Exclusion Certificate) are to be attached. Note that To Whom It May Concern shall not be accepted in lieu of the certificates specified above.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL APPLICANTS
- All applicants will undergo computer based Postgraduate admission screening test.

NOTE: For Ph.D degree programme, a candidate must have published at least an article from his/her Ph.D Thesis or obtained an acceptance letter from a journal certified by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka as a condition for graduation.
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS
Most information required would be completed online. However, a copy of the online completed application form should be downloaded and printed. The printed application form with the relevant documents as listed below should be posted or delivered to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, for Nsukka based faculties.
Candidates for Enugu based faculties are to submit their application forms by post or delivered to: The PAR, School of Postgraduate Unit, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. For ease of reference, Enugu based faculties are: Business Administration; Environmental Studies; Health Sciences & Technology; Medical Sciences; Institute for Development Studies (IDS) and Centre for Environmental Management & Control (CEMAC).
Candidates are advised to ensure that the following documents are enclosed in the file:
(a) NYSC Certificates (Discharge or Exemption or exclusion Certificate). Note that To Whom It May Concern shall not be accepted.
(b) Two copies of the Application summary form (D3) available online should be downloaded & printed:
- One copy of the printed summary form (D3) should be glued very neatly (NOT STAPLED) on a brown 10” X 15” envelope;
- The second copy of the printed summary form (D3) should be glued very neatly (NOT STAPLED) on a white 9” X 13” file Jacket;
(c) All accompanying documents should be placed in the file Jacket, specified in (c.ii) and the File Jacket should be placed in brown envelope as specified in (c.i.) above.
All documents must fit into the 10” X 15” envelope and delivered or addressed and sent by courier to “The Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka”.
