FUNAAB PG ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The following under listed below are the requirements for all postgraduate courses offered in FUNAAB, these requirements must be strictly adhered to during your postgraduate application and registration process and failure to comply with these directives could lead to your application being disqualified. The general entry requirements below are for PGD (Postgraduate Diploma) programmes, al academic and non-academic Masters programmes and Ph.D programmes for fresh candidates.

  1. I) Candidate for Postgraduate studies into Federal University of Agriculture Abeokutamust have obtained at least (5) credits including English and Mathematics in not more than two sittings in WASC NECO GCE (Ordinary Level) or their equivalent.
  2. II) Candidate applying for the M.A., M.Ed., M. Eng., MVPH, MVPM and M.Sc. degrees in any field must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree with at least second class lower division in the relevant discipline.

III) A Candidate for Ph.D. in any Programme of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta must have obtained a minimum weighted average score of 60% (4 points) letter grade “B” average performance in the Master’s Degree

  1. IV) A Candidate applying for the Ph.D. with a Master’s Degree from any other University, who in his/her Masters study had not previously taken the compulsory courses or their equivalent, similar to the courses in the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokutashall, on admission be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60% (4 points) or a letter grade “B”
  2. V) Candidates seeking for admission into any of the postgraduate Diploma Programmes must possess a university degree with minimum grade of third class or HND with a minimum of Lower Credit.
  3. VI) MBBS, BDS is required for MPH Community Medicine while health related degree is required for MPH Sexual and Reproductive Health

VII) NOTE: PhD, candidates should attach a maximum of 500 words research proposal

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

Applicants applying for any of the PGD courses offered in FUNAAB must meet the following requirements:
i. Applicants must obtain a minimum of 5 (Five) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at ‘O’ Level in not more than two sittings.

  1. Candidates must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized University or HND from any recognized Polytechnic in Nigeria not lower than Third Class; or its equivalent to be eligible to apply.

iii) In addition to the above, Candidates with Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Merit in related field of study from a Polytechnic or any recognized institution

  1. iv) Candidates must posses a Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class (Lower Division) in area not related to the field applying for may be considered

ACADEMIC MASTER DEGREE PROGRAMMES

Applicants applying for Academic Masters Degree courses offered in FUNAAB must meet the following requirements:

  1. Applicants must obtain a minimum of 5 (five) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at ‘O’ Level in not more than two sittings.
  2. In addition to the above, Candidates must have obtained a first Degree of Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta(FUNAAB) or any recognized university in relevant field with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division); and

iii. Lastly, Candidates with Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 is also eligible.

PROFESSIONAL MASTER DEGREE PROGRAMMES

Applicants applying for professional Masters Degree courses offered in FUNAAB must meet the following requirements:

  1. Applying Candidates is expected to have a minimum of 5 (five) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at ‘O’ Level in not more than 2 sittings and not more than two year apart.
  2. Another PG admission requirement for Professional Masters at FUNAABis, Candidate is expected to have obtained a First Degree from FUNAABor any recognized university in relevant field with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)

iii. In addition to the above (ii) candidates with Third Class Degree or HND and a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) from Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta  or any recognized institution with a minimum of 3.50 CGPA are eligible to apply.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY PROGRAMMES (ACCOUNTING AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION ONLY)

Candidates applying for Ph.D programmes offered in FUNAAB must meet the following requirements:

  1. One of the requirements include a minimum of 5 (five) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics at ‘O’ Level in not more than 2 sittings and not more than two year apart.
  2. Secondly, Candidates are expected to have obtained a First Degree from Federal University of Agriculture Abeokutaor any the recognised universities in Nigeria from any relevant field with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division)

iii. Lastly, Candidate must have obtained a Masters Degree from FUNAAB or any recognized university in the proposed field of study with minimum CGPA of 3.50.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please note that candidates with B.Sc, PGD and HND cannot apply for Ph.D directly without going though Masters Degree programme first.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Photocopies of NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificates, photocopies of all qualifying credentials, including O’level must be attached to the completed application forms. Candidates should arrange for their transcripts to be sent directly to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies. Non-receipt of transcripts in time is at the detriment of the applicant.

DURATION OF FUNAAB PG PROGRAMMES

Postgraduate Diploma Programmes

  1. Full-Time Diploma:  Minimum of two semesters and a maximum of four semesters.
  2. Part-Time Diploma: Minimum of three semester and a maximum of eight semesters.

Masters Degree Programmes

  1. Full-Time: A minimum of three semesters and a maximum of six semesters.
  2. Part-Time: A minimum of four semesters and a maximum of eight semesters.

M.Phil/Ph.D Programmes

  1. Full-Time: A minimum of six semesters and a maximum of eight semesters.
  2. Part-Time: A Minimum of eight semesters and a maximum of ten semesters

Ph.D Programme

  1. Full-Time: A Minimum of six semesters and a maximum of eight semesters.
  2. Part-Time: A minimum of eight semesters and a maximum of ten semesters.
