The inspection teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) have praised the administration of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai for their thorough preparations for the introduction of the Faculty of Law and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the upcoming academic session.
Consisting of key figures such as the Director of Academic Planning at NUC, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, a Professor of Law, and distinguished Professors of Pharmaceutical Sciences from reputable universities across the country, the teams were warmly welcomed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, at the University’s Management Meeting Room.
Expressing gratitude, the Vice Chancellor acknowledged the Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mr. Chris Jibreel Mayaki, for assembling such a formidable delegation to evaluate the two programs. He emphasized the University’s commitment to upholding NUC standards.
In their feedback, the NUC delegates commended the University’s forward-thinking approach to establishing the two faculties.
Mallam Abubakar Girie, the Director of Academic Planning at NUC, highlighted the impressive features of the ongoing construction of the Faculty of Law complex, stating that upon completion, it would stand as a model and the largest of its kind in Nigerian universities. He noted the well-structured design, ample facilities, and provisions for both teaching and non-teaching staff, including a Moot Court, Law Clinic, Judge’s Chamber, Law Library, and e-law Library.
He also highlighted the presence of an ultra-modern auditorium and six spacious classrooms with a combined seating capacity of over two hundred and fifty.
The leaders of the respective faculties, Professor Maxwell Michael and Professor Ibrahim Mohammed Sule, commended the University’s adherence to the regulations governing the establishment and commencement of the Law and Pharmaceutical Sciences programs. They cautioned against the risks faced by universities that rush to commence programs without obtaining necessary approval from NUC, often resulting in closure due to failure to meet standards.
They urged the University Management to maintain their momentum and expressed confidence that the outcome of the inspection would be favorable for the smooth commencement of the programs.
Ending his speech the Registrar, Alhaji Idris Saleh Kusherki, appreciated the team members for their positive feedback and assured them of the University’s commitment to following their professional guidance to ensure the successful launch of the two programs.
Key highlights of the inspection included visits to the ongoing construction sites of the Faculty of Law and Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, as well as a comprehensive assessment of required human resources and essential facilities.
